Receptionist/Clerk Job Position

The Town of Magrath is seeking applications for a full-time Receptionist/Clerk to work in a team environment. 

The primary function of the Receptionist/Clerk will be to serve the public by responding to front counter and telephone inquiries including receiving payments and providing receipts and documentation to the public. The secondary function will be to provide a variety of administrative and office supports through daily assignments or be given responsibility over specific tasks or projects.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
• Reception duties including answering telephone and serving customers at the front counter.
• Limited duties within the financial department which will include cash receipts, data input and accounts receivable.
• Take bookings for Town facilities, order supplies, and process mail and banking.
• The work will involve the use of computer and other office equipment, computer software in providing support of the Management Team.
• File maintenance – physical and electronic.
• Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS:
• Grade 12 diploma or GED certificate
• Office experience
• Excellent reception skills and the ability to operate the telephone system
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public, supervisors and co-workers
• Maintain confidentiality with all information obtained through daily interactions and assignments
• Have computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, email, internet and willing to learn the Town’s financial software.

Our office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with further opportunity for overtime hours with participation in Council and sub-committee assignments. The Town is offering $19.29/hour as a starting wage and after a probationary period the successful candidate will participate in our benefits package and pension plan.
