Pothole Creek Water Levels

James Suffredine • April 28, 2021
Update April 30th - Alberta Environment and Parks has advised the Town that the issue with construction at the Jensen Reservoir is considered stable and that the risk that any water release will take place is now low . This will be the Town's final update for this unless the situation changes.

Update April 29th : 24 hour Monitoring of the construction project at the Jensen Reservoir continues. Alberta Environment and Parks updated the Town that thus far it has not been necessary to increase the water levels down the Pothole Creek and the risk of needing to has gone down but hasn’t gone away. Our ongoing recommendation currently is still that all residents continue to keep outside of the banks of the Pothole Creek and remain alert if nearby.

April 28th
Alberta Environment and Parks has advised the Town of Magrath that due to ongoing construction at the Jensen Reservoir water levels on the Pothole Creek may rise rapidly over the next 24 hours and may include the potential of an initial rush of water. It is requested all residents keep outside of the normal banks of Pothole Creek and remain alert when close to the area. Any further updates to this information will be provided through the Town App, Facebook, and website.
