Magrath's 2020 Tax Rate Bylaw
Town of Magrath • May 13, 2020
At last night’s Council Meeting, Town Council passed Magrath’s 2020 Tax Rate Bylaw.
This bylaw keeps the Town’s mill rates at the same level they were in 2019. In addition to the deferral options that the Town announced last month, administration was able to successfully prepare this year’s budget based on the goal of a 0% increase to the residential and non-residential mill rate. Now passed by Council, this means that every property owner in Magrath will only see the municipal portion of their property tax increase this year if their property assessment value increased.
By not raising the mill rate this year and offering the deferrals to residents to use if needed, it was the Town’s objective to give our residents greater certainty and control in being able to manage their finances through these unprecedented economic times. Tax notices will be mailed out by the end of the week.
